Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books is a voluntary reading incentive program that is offered to students in grades 3-5. It takes place after school on Wednesday from 3:15-4:10 and will begin on January 11th.
The purpose of Battle of the Books "is simply to encourage students to read good books and have fun while competing with their peers." Each student is responsible for reading 3-5 assigned books throughout the year while remembering details that are significant to the stories.
The program concludes with a "Battle" at Egremont Elementary School in June. Teams score points for correctly answering questions about the books they have read and at the end of the day a "Grand Battle" takes place between the two teams with the most points.
